Although Gordon was born and resided in Cumberland, B.C., his sisters, Mrs. Alan Minter and Miss Betty Devoy lived in Chilliwack. Gordon lived in Chilliwack, off and on, and became friends with Allan and Glen Minter. Gordon enlisted in the R.C.A.F. in May 1941 and was trained as a navigator. Overseas he served on Lancaster bombers with 426 Squadron. On March 31, 1944, during a night raid against Nuremburg, his crew's aircraft was shot down by a German night fighter over Furth, Germany and crashed at Ermreuth. Gordon Devoy's aircraft was one of 108 aircraft lost on this operation. R.C.A.F. crew members killed were Flight Lieutenant W.C. Cracknell, Flying Officer L.E. Robinson, Flight Sergeant R.C. Haycock and Sergeant H.F. Orr, Warrant Officer M.C. Mossman R.N.Z.A.F., and Sergeant H. Wride, R.A.F.

Son of Mabel Doherty, Chilliwack, B.C.

"Frank" Doherty was born in Hanna, Alberta in 1920 and moved to Chilliwack at an early age. He went to school in Chilliwack and later worked as a salesman for Brett's Garage. In 1941, Frank enlisted in the R.C.A F. and was trained as an air gunner. Flying Lancasters with 44 Squadron, on May 24, 1943, his aircraft went missing over enemy territory without trace. Other members of the crew killed were Sergeant J.L. Drysdale R.C.A.F., Flying Officer W.A. Marsden, Flight Sergeant H.W.E. Hyett and Sergeants J.F. Lester, S. Jones, A.S. Bushill all of the R.A.F.

Son of William and Nellie Drader, Chilliwack, B.C.

John Drader enlisted in Vancouver, British Columbia and served overseas with the Winnipeg Rifles. He was killed July 3, 1942.
