Son of James Alfred and Alice Louise Parker, Chilliwack, B.C.

This Chilliwack youth was born April 25, 1915 and attended public and high schools in the district. He worked on the family farm on Banford Road and had completed a business course when he decided, in March 1941, to join the R.C.A.F. On March 9, 1941, prior to commencing training at Brandon, Manitoba, Leslie was honoured at "Penarget" where a number of family and friends gathered and he was presented with a wristwatch. Leslie trained as an air gunner and went overseas in May 1942, joining 424 Bomber Squadron. On his tenth mission over Germany, March 12, 1943, the crew's Wellington was lost over enemy‑held territory. It is believed the aircraft was shot down and upon crashing at Echteld (Gelderland) on the northern bank of the Waal, four kilometres ENE of Tiel Holland the crew was buried beneath the wreckage. Other members of the R.C.A.F crew killed were Pilot Officer R.G. Caldwell, Flying Officer G.J. Cory, Flight Sergeant W.F. Topping and Sergeant A.P. Larson.
