That’s right! We are reducing our photo order prices from $15 to $10 for a digital copy. In addition, we are dropping the $15 use fee altogether!
If you haven’t looked at our constitution recently, it is worth considering a closer look at our Mandate:
The Chilliwack Museum and Archives is an innovative, responsive, and inclusive organization that connects people with the past, present, and future.
The keyword is, connect. One way the Archives connects people with our records is to ensure that we have descriptions of our records available for researchers. The past few years we have been busy adding a number of archival descriptions, object photographs, and digitized archival photographs onto our online database. All that work means we now have 36,829 archival, photographic, object, and library book descriptions on our online database. Of that, we have digitized over 19,000 individual historic images and written descriptions that are now available to search on our online database!
Speaking of historic – in this age of high inflation we have actually decided to take the steps to lower our photo order prices in order to make them more accessible to the public. That’s why we have decided to drop the $15 use fee completely and to lower the costs of a digital image from $15/image to $10/image.
If you haven’t browsed our online database recently, I encourage you to look through our photographic catalogue. You may want to read the “info” tab as well which will give you some hints on how to best search our records.
Of course, if you’re having trouble finding a particular image or record we are always happy to assist you with your research. Please do not hesitate to call, email, or stop by in-person. We don’t just connect “people with the past, present, and future” because it’s in our Mandate. We do it because connecting researchers with our records is the most exciting, emotional, and rewarding part of working for an archives.
